HGP HarmonicGuard 5% Passive Harmonic Filter

Passive Harmonic Filter with Bluetooth® wireless technology

The HGP (HarmonicGuard Passive) filter is a drive applied passive harmonic filter that limits current distortion to less than 5% at low loads. The HGP with PQconnect provides Bluetooth connectivity to monitor power quality and control the filter.

High quality components and a robust design allow this passive filter to deliver best in class performance under the harshest conditions and in the most challenging applications. The HGP filter is suitable for all industry applications. HGP with PQconnect is the only passive filter with remote connectivity.

PQvision Software Applications

Introducing EtherNet/IP the Future of Connectivity

TCI’s HGP Passive Harmonic Filter now includes EtherNet/IP connectivity. It is now easier than ever to connect, control, and manage your Harmonic Filter within an EtherNet/IP driven network.

Seamless Integration:No need for additional costs using an EtherNet/IP gateway.  PQconnect communications now allow for ultimate compatibility with your EtherNet/IP dependent PLC or HMI device.

High Speed Performance: Experience lightning-fast data transfer and real-time communication of your Harmonic Filter with implicit messaging. With near zero information latency, Filter status and Power Quality characteristics are always at your fingertips.

Decrease Setup Time: Leverage our Licensed AOP EDS file for an easier setup with Rockwell or EtherNet/IP dependent devices. Individual Controller Tags for all PQconnect Implicit IO data will always auto populate.

Harmonics and Power Quality

Issues caused by harmonics may include:

  • Transformer and distribution equipment overheating
  • Random breaker tripping
  • Sensitive equipment failure
  • Poor power factor

 HGP with PQconnect Advantages

The HGP harmonic filter is a field-proven passive filter designed to meet your specific industry requirements. This filter not only limits current distortion to less than 5% at low loads, but it also increases drive uptime and eliminates nuisance tripping. The UL508A configuration includes 100kA SCCR safety, with fusing and easy access inside the enclosure. A filter bypass contactor is not needed in offline VFD applications.

HGP with PQconnect takes measurements at different points within the line to give you accurate readings.

  • Filter status detection
  • THID (total harmonic current distortion)
  • THVD (total harmonic voltage distortion)
  • V (voltage)
  • I (current)

With the addition of PQconnect, the HGP harmonic filter features:

Generator Compatibility + Intelligence

The HGP with PQconnect is an intelligent passive harmonic filter with generator compatibility. The filter autonomously controls its tuning circuit contactor based on your input system to ensure worry-free operations for generator-based systems.

Industrial Communications

The HGP with PQconnect provides data monitoring and status of the filter to your SCADA system. The filter will communicate informational alerts to ensure your system stays running and resolves power quality issues. PQconnect can communicate via Modbus RTU over RS485 or EtherNet/IP.

Industrial Strength

The HGP with PQconnect is built in the USA, using high quality components. This allows our passive filters to deliver best in class performance under the harshest conditions and in the most challenging applications.

Filter Status Detections

Receive alerts before problems occur. With PQconnect, users will be notified if issues were to arise, including on the components of your filter. This will prevent unnecessary downtime and will alert the user when capacitors are nearing end of life.

Designed with Oilfield Duty in Mind

This field-proven passive filter has factory options available to meet your specific requirements including Oilfield Duty. It features components designed specifically for oil and gas field applications to handle the additional electrical stress. Designed for cyclical loads, these units will be available in Type 3R enclosures and will be for use with HP ranges from 40 to 200 HP.

Low Capacitance HarmonicGuard Filter

TCI also provides a low capacitance version of our HGP product. The HarmonicGuard Low Capacitance filter has been designed with roughly half the capacitance of the HGP, but provides all the same options of the HarmonicGuard Passive filter.  For more information on the HGL product, click here.
